The NIH and the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive
and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) Division of Diabetes, Endocrine, and Metabolic
Diseases are sponsoring a 2 1/2-day adipocyte workshop on September 14-16,
1997, on the NIH campus. The workshop will bring together basic and clinical
researchers to focus on the communication between brain and fat cells to
regulate energy balance and fat metabolism. Experts from a diversity of
fields will strive to identify ways to cross-fertilize such disciplines
as neuroendocrinology and cell biology of fat cell function.
